Set Design 2012 and 2013

These aren't lessons. These are some examples of set pieces I've helped design and build for my church's children's program. They are out of date but very fun.

The top is the interior of a submarine. It's designed so that puppets can be used inside the porthole. The script from our curriculum called for the puppet to be inside an aquarium inside the submarine. We preferred the idea of our friendly sea creatures to be in their natural habitat.

These are our jellyfish. They were made mostly from coffee filters. They were also designed and painted so that they would glow under black light.

The boat was designed so that it could be transformed from Noah's arc, to a roman ship to a fishing boat from Galilee.

This was designed for our Around the World Fair. The ticket booth is also a puppet stage. I designed and drew the world map in the background.

This is our setting for Japan.

This is Mexico. I made the papel picado on the wall and the flowers along the top.

Joseph in Egypt. This was taken after tear-down so the seam in the middle has split. We're always recycling our materials so I'm pretty sure this will get painted over by next year.
